How to sync your NestBoard calendar to Google or Apple

Why you'd want this
Your NestBoard calendar already lives on everyone's phone and on the kitchen tablet. But if you spend half your day in Outlook for work or Google Calendar for school pick-ups, switching apps every time you need to check whether Tuesday is free gets old fast.
The calendar subscription link puts your family events right alongside your work meetings and doctor appointments. One calendar, one place to look, and nothing to copy by hand.
How to get the link
Open Settings in NestBoard and tap Calendar subscription. You'll see a private link. Copy it, or tap Add to calendar app to open it directly.
The subscription is read-only. It can never change or delete anything in your other calendar. It only shows your NestBoard events there.
Adding it to Apple Calendar
Tap Add to calendar app and Apple Calendar opens the subscription screen for you. Or go to File, then New Calendar Subscription, and paste the link.
The feed refreshes on its own. Apple controls the timing, not NestBoard, so a change you make in NestBoard appears whenever Apple Calendar next asks for the feed.
Adding it to Google Calendar
In Google Calendar, go to Other calendars on the left sidebar, choose From URL, and paste the link.
Google refreshes the feed on its own schedule, and it is the slowest of the three. Plan on somewhere in the 8 to 24 hour range, and sometimes longer. There is no button on either side that makes it hurry.
Adding it to Outlook
Choose Add calendar, then Subscribe from web, and paste the link.
Like Apple and Google, Outlook decides when to refresh. NestBoard builds the feed fresh on every request, so any lag you see is the other app's refresh cycle, not the feed.
What shows up (and what doesn't)
The feed covers your family calendar from a month back through a year ahead, minus events marked adults-only. Those are left out entirely, for everyone, because the link works at the household level rather than per person.
In your calendar app the feed appears under the name NestBoard calendar, not your household's actual name.
If the link gets out
The link is private, so only share it with people you want to see your family calendar.
If it lands somewhere it shouldn't, open Settings, tap Calendar subscription, and choose Reset link. You get a brand new link and the old one stops working immediately.
This is one-way. Here's the other direction.
The subscription link sends NestBoard events out to another calendar. If you want the opposite (pulling work meetings or school events into NestBoard), that's calendar sync, and it works a little differently.
You can connect Google, Outlook, or any public iCal feed (including Apple and iCloud) so outside events appear on the family dashboard. Apple and iCal feeds are read-only. Google and Outlook are read-only today, and sending NestBoard events straight into a Google calendar is on the roadmap.
To set it up, go to Settings, then Calendar Sync. Choose Connect Google Calendar or Connect Outlook, or paste an iCal feed URL into the feed field.
School portals and sports leagues often publish iCal feeds too. Look for a Subscribe to calendar or iCal URL option and paste that link into NestBoard. You can add more than one feed and label each one, so soccer practice and band concerts stay easy to tell apart.
Exporting the whole calendar
If you ever leave NestBoard, you can take your calendar with you. Go to Settings, then Privacy and Data, and choose the calendar export. You get a standard .ics file that works in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, and every other calendar app.
